I played DMC 5 back in February (2025). It was hella fun , explored the DMC lore, fell in love with the franchise. Previously I had only played the reboot game, back in 2015. People didn't like it but that game was sick too.

After Dante gets his new sword in DMC 5, it allows him to summon phantom swords.

In Royal Guard playstyle the phantom swords block enemy attacks. There are 3 other playstyles, Trickster, Gunslinger and Swordmaster. The phantom blades behave differently in each playstyle. It doesn't do anything in Trickster playstyle though.
